International Islamic University College Selangor (KUIS) has endured years of rundown sound system for their Convocation Hall. They are ready to spend for a new sound system but only high quality system will be considered.
Local contractor, M Standard Enterprise and Malaysia distributor, AV Electronics Marketing (AVEM) proposed full Audiocenter solution to KUIS. AVEM with strong project reference in system for hall is the key to the success of this project.
For a Convocation Hall with the length of 50 meters, width of 30 meters and height of 15 meters, the challenges faced are the evenness of SPL across the hall and the highly reverberate wall and floor. K-LA28 line array system are proposed and installed into the venue. Reverberation is reduce physically reduce to minimum by aiming the system to the audiences. The 20 degree vertical dispersion proves to be effective control of the directivity of sound thus lowering any unnecessary reverb. Meanwhile, the 100 degree horizontal dispersion is useful to create the evenness of SPL across the hall. A total of 8 units of K-LA28 are installed for the hall. The lowest possible frequency for K-LA28 is 60 Hz thus to complete the frequency spectrum, 2 units of K-LA815B are installed to provide extension of frequencies to 48 Hz. The K-LA28 and K-LA815B are driven with 3 units of PRO9.0. At the heart, Proel PC-260 provides the speaker management. Each element of the array is specially tuned accordingly to the space with the help of industry standard SMAART 8 measurement software. The result is a fairly linear, resonance free and minimized reverberation.
On stage, 2 units of Audiocenter PF12+ are employed. With rotatable horn feature, it easily positioned in wedge without sacrificing on the horizontal dispersion. To make the quality audio beyond the hall, 6 units of PF6+ are installed all around the corridor besides the hall. Not only the size is small, the design is elegantly fits into the modern Islam architecture. The PF6+ are powered by Audiocenter VA401.
During the testing and commission session, it is honors to have the ex-student of KUIS whom are famous band in Malaysia to sound check the system. As this piece of article is written, the band which is called Projector Band currently sits on top of ERA FM music chart with their song “Sudah Ku Tahu”. Few members of PROJECTOR BAND give praises for the system especially on its clarity. “I am impressed with the Audiocenter performance. At first I have doubt but after double checking with two venue owners who currently owns Audiocenter system, I am full of confidence as both give thumbs up for Audiocenter” said MrYazid, sound engineer of KUIS.
